- Executive summary
Operational harmony after an acquisition
A US dairy company that acquired a leading dairy-ingredients portfolio — milk powders and protein concentrates and isolates — needed to integrate the new business while keeping customers supplied without interruption.
DynaTech supported the post-acquisition ERP integration on Dynamics 365 with a data strategy and governance framework, a comprehensive change management program and a phased transition. The result was higher data quality, strong adoption and uninterrupted operations.
Integrating legacy systems without disrupting customers
Combining data from multiple legacy systems exposed format inconsistencies, synchronization issues and integrity risks. Poorly managed, these could lead to duplicates, misalignment and operational disruption.
Moving to a new ERP also meant changing workflows, which put ERP user adoption at risk, and the business had to ensure business continuity during ERP transition for customers and supply chains.
Pain points
Data integration and migration
Format inconsistencies and integrity risks across legacy sources.
Resistance to change
Workflow changes required communication, hands-on training and proactive change management.
Business continuity
Customer service and supply chain operations had to continue without interruption.
Target KPIs & goals
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of migrated data
- Drive ERP user adoption through communication and role-based training
- Maintain business continuity during ERP transition, with service and supply uninterrupted
Data governance, change management and a phased transition
DynaTech combined three workstreams for a smooth post-acquisition ERP integration on Dynamics 365 for dairy manufacturers: a robust data strategy, a holistic change management for ERP program and a staged migration.
Each workstream was designed around the three challenges so that data quality, adoption and continuity were managed together.
What we delivered
01
ERP data migration governance
Defined standards, validation controls and dedicated stewardship protected accuracy and integrity; continuous monitoring limited duplication.
02
Proactive communication
Early, transparent updates on objectives, benefits and timelines aligned stakeholders and built trust.
03
Targeted training
Customized, role-based and hands-on sessions built user confidence.
04
Phased ERP cutover
Businesses migrated in structured stages with temporary parallel operations of legacy and new systems.
05
Real-time validation & rollback
Parallel running allowed validation of processes and rapid rollback if unforeseen issues occurred.
Key technologies & integrations
- Dynamics 365
- Data governance framework
- Role-based training program
- Parallel-run migration approach
A staged path from legacy systems to one platform
Data moved through governance controls into Dynamics 365 in stages, with legacy and new systems running in parallel before full cutover.
Simplified migration approach.
A phased approach that protected continuity
The source document does not provide dates or a duration. The phases below show the sequence of the approach.
01
Data strategy & governance
Standards, validation controls and stewardship established first.
02
Change management
Communication plan and role-based, hands-on training.
03
Phased migration
Businesses moved in stages with parallel operation of legacy and new systems.
04
Validation & stabilization
Real-time validation of processes with rollback available.
Better data, strong adoption and uninterrupted operations
The integration delivered the following outcomes, as described in the project documentation.
